Imagination Technologies opens new R&D centre in Bristol

Imagination Technologies, a leading multimedia and communications IP (Intellectual Property) company, has confirmed Bristol as the location for its latest PowerVR graphics and multimedia R&D facility.

As a result of the on-going success across all its IP technologies, including PowerVR graphics and video IP cores, Imagination is growing rapidly, with more than 1,000 staff, of which over 80% are degree qualified engineers. Its world-wide headquarters and many of its PowerVR R&D teams are based in Kings Langley, near London. Including its Leeds and Chepstow design centres, the UK is home to more than 70% of its highly skilled workforce, complemented by design centres located strategically world-wide to take advantage of world class skills.

Imagination has been studying for some time the best locations in the UK to expand its operations to enable it to attract more of the UK’s best engineers, reflecting its strong commitment to maximising its UK R&D base long term. Danish offshore and marine engineering company locates in Bristol

Bristol’s international profile as a global hub for high tech engineering and environmental technology services has been further reinforced with the news that LICenergy UK Ltd, a subsidiary of LICengineering A/S, a leading Danish offshore and marine engineering company, is opening a new UK office in Bristol.

LICenergy UK Ltd. is moving into serviced offices within the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone and plans to recruit up to 20 engineers, draughtsman and administrative staff over the next two years. Read more ...

Vestas Spare Parts & Repair

Bristol’s place as a leading green city and a magnet for low carbon investment has been further reinforced with the news that international wind turbine company Vestas Spare Parts & Repair, a division of Vestas Wind Systems, has moved to the city - creating 20 new jobs. Vestas Spare Parts & Repair has moved into an office located at Portwall Place in Bristol in order to build close connections with the University of Bristol and the local business community.

College of Law

Bristol's Temple Quarter has been confirmed as the site for The College of Law's newest centre - due to open in September 2010. Close to many key law firms in Bristol's fast expanding business district and to the heart of the city centre, the College will occupy some 20,000 sq ft on the ground and first floors of Temple Circus - a striking modern office building within a few minutes walk of Bristol Temple Meads Station.

This will be The College of Law's first centre in Bristol, representing a £1.2m investment and creating 40 new jobs. It will serve the whole of the South West region and consolidate the College's position as the UK's leading provider of postgraduate professional legal education. It will also offer courses for qualified lawyers.
